The National Christian Schools’ Certificate was set up to give recognition to work completed over a number of years by secondary pupils using the ACE curriculum. With the appropriate NCSC certificate, ACE graduates need never return to state schools to gain college and university entrance qualifications. A board of Christian leaders and teachers controls the NCSC.
The National Christian Schools’ Certificate has been available in the UK for several years and is being accepted by colleges and universities in this country and abroad, as an alternative to the usual GCSE and GCE 'A' level route.
What is the NCSC?
The National Christian Schools Certificate is a Christian alternative to secular qualifications and is recognised by a growing number of employers and universities in the UK and elsewhere. The UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) UK Qualifications Handbook includes details of the NCSC. Providing formal recognition of the work completed by children on the ACE curriculum, five levels of certificate are offered. FOUNDATION CERTIFICATE
This certificate is designed for pupils with special educational needs. It provides a Record of Achievement similar to those issued by many state schools.
LEVEL 1 CERTIFICATE
The Level One certificate requires similar level of work needed to obtain GCSE. It covers English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Religious Education and a number of options chosen by the pupil.
LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE
The Level Two certificate is at a similar standard to AS Level. Again, it includes courses in English, Mathematics and Science, building on the knowledge already acquired. There are additional courses in the Humanities including Religious Education.
LEVEL 3 CERTIFICATE
The Level Three certificate has been generally recognised by universities and colleges for entry. Most pupils completing this level go on to study at degree level. The programme content at this level is determined by the pupil's intended degree course or future career aspirations.
HONOURS CERTIFICATE
The Honour's Certificate is the highest level of qualification issued by the NCSC. It represents standards similar to the old "S" level and is only achieved by the most able pupils. |
